DBRS Morningstar Publishes Five Final Corporate Methodologies and Clarifies Geographic Scope of Certain Corporate Methodologies

DBRS Morningstar finalized the following five methodologies (the Methodologies):

“Global Methodology for Rating Companies in the Airline Industry”
“Global Methodology for Rating Companies in the Forest Products Industry”
“Global Methodology for Rating Companies in the Broadcasting Industry”
“Global Methodology for Rating Companies in the Printing Industry”
“Global Methodology for Rating Companies in the Publishing Industry”

These methodologies present the criteria for which DBRS Morningstar ratings are assigned and/or monitored for their respective corporate sectors.

The Methodologies supersede the prior versions published on January 20, 2022; March 11, 2022; March 14, 2022; March 14, 2022; and March 14, 2022, respectively, and are effective as of August 29, 2022.

Per the press release “DBRS Morningstar Requests Comments on Proposed Updates to Five Corporate Methodologies,” dated June 27, 2022, these methodologies had been released on a request for comment basis. The comment period ended July 27, 2022, and no comments were received.

DBRS Morningstar deems the updates not to be material and has determined that no credit ratings are expected to change as a result of these updates.

In addition, starting with these five methodologies, DBRS Morningstar is providing greater geographic clarity to its corporate methodologies and corporate criteria by adding the words “global methodology for” to the title and the concept of global applicability to the Scope and Limitations section of each methodology, unless the geographic scope is specifically limited (e.g., “Rating Canadian Public Hospitals”). These changes will be made to other corporate methodologies (including criteria) over the course of the next year as methodologies are reviewed/updated. No credit ratings will change as a result of this clarification of geographic scope.

All comments received during the request for comment period have been published to the DBRS Morningstar website, except in cases where confidentiality is requested by the respondent.
